The conclusion ( ._.)
the conclusion.. well short as possible..
AMAZING!
i really enjoyed this pproject, the sculpting was fun and a new experiance working in a group has trouble but still nice to hear oeopels opinions and has people all contibuting to one thing. if this project is a project reflects the future ones this year will be amazing, looking forward to Z-Brush project, okay i should make a better conclusion..
Bad: I would have liked this project to last longer and be deeper, within a larger time frame we could have made the next monopoly! or chess! When we had team members doing well nothing, the work wasnt evenly given out, this wasnt beause of greedy or anything but some members wouldnt be able to explain the game while others couldsay it without ever going 'erm' the effort from everyone wasnt the same.
Good: sculpting! although i previously moaned about the team it was extremel;y helpful for instant feedback and improvments and having everyone focused one different set goal and being able to bounce around. it allowed me to see it all come together. I also really liked it being tested on the final day, peoples reactions made it feel that much better and proud of our work.
AMAZING PROJECT!
Logo designs
i went through a design proccess for the logos on the board. here is that proccess.
here is the 'IdeaSpam' where i draw as much as beleive is nessessary and compare create from exsisting or choice one already there. As you can see not every one has the same number that is because attempting to be unique closed alot out and also how relevant they are to the characters. RAnge is the only one that has one, this is because of it being my character and ive choosen to stick with this one.
here is a list of what they are all for.
Heal - tree, moon, remix of heal 'plus.
Melee - reaper scythe, thick sword, ninja star, lightening bolt in circle, thin sword with material curling around.
Tank - Tank (der), muscle arm.
Magic - dove, star, top hat, beam.
Range - arrow.
here are the ones that have been picked at the end of it.
and here are the final ones.
A day of success!
friday was success, i didnt beleive the environment to be as 'casual' as it was being able to joke and entertain while they are playing the game, and i was going to come in my good shirt! I believed that the day was also good because of the feedback which has already been posted. there wasnt a rating lower then 7, which i believe is good, if i remember correctly the average score out of 10 was 9 which i am proud of. it was nice to read and see exactly how people player and the tactics used by people doing things people who created the game wouldnt have thought of. Also seeing people enjoying the game was extremely goood. Although i will say it was diffucult explaining our complex strategy game without overflowing with information but getting the essentials out. Within the day I was the 'referee' for every game played, what that title includes is to calculate the damage done for all 5 characters while informing them of when each utilites and also correcting them on any mistakes made. I was having people ask me how much health people has left right after the attack which meant i had to work quick, at times i got help from people like Daniel and Ameet but not consistantly. It was fun to watch me say who has the most health and everyone only attack them until someone else was in the lead; in one game about 5 turns into the game someone has 2 our of 100 health remaining and won because everyone ganged up on the person with the most HP and another time until 3 turns from the end of a like 20-35 minute game took damage in the last 3 turns and until then wasnt hit once throughout the whole game. Through playing we found out we didnt use are .UtilityNotification> which was a board that rotated showing an annonimus trap has been set. the day was very benifical as it shown errors and what could have been added and what wasnt, the main problem was figures falling over, constantly figues were falling over like domino knocking it all, having a more blanaced character and base would have helped and we also needed a bigger board as when the characters were close they where touching eachother making more fall over when you moved your piece.
The sculpting conclusion..
the sculpting has finished! now i will firstly say from what i done after this i am not proud of, i had to rush to help my team with all the other things that had to be done as i believed we had the weekend to do the the work we had planned. so in the morning i was told that there was no more green stuff, and we had to use the 'magicsculpt' and after attempting with the magic scuplt i saw drew bring the green stuff in, at first i found it hard but eventually i was okay again, i rushed the other arm making it too large and also the bow not paying any attention to the detail. although it still looks 'good enough' i wanted it to look better and once again time was against me. Here is the model.
Battle cards final!
here are the final battlecards! only 3 will be shown out of 5 because one has already been created and the other one had problems with the image in the top right corner and was added on the friday before the first set of customers, which means i done have it digitally, but here are the ones i currently have!
Edit: Ive left my usb a college but have camera photos of all the cards.
Attack names!
Here are the names for the attacks of each of the characters and also the utilities. we attempted to keep a theme between the names and also relevance to the characters themself, e.g. 'shank' for Ameet's character K1's primary attack.
Final board
Here is the final board! this is what was printed and stuck onto the foam bloack board to create the playing board. there are coordinates on each hexagon which is used for the utility #1. the board originally didnt have the light transparent hexagons in the middle, this was put on to make it appear more simple, what we was aiming forwas 'sexy but simple' and I believe the battle cards and board reflect this. the logos was done around the outside by me, originally they didnt have a theme running through the whole of them and was hard to make out what went to what but with this new one it is more simple and clear, although everything else other than the logos was done by jasdev.
