but first
I must say more design work was done then what was presented, although it still isnt to the extend that was expected there was image refrence iniscal design and a small research image collage. so that is where ALL (i use that word lightly)
well for anyone who cant remember or wasnt present i designed a Korean Olympic archer, here is that final piece.

Okay so there is the final piece, and yes normally i show my progress first but the finaly piece was ready shown at the presentation,
now once again im going to repeat myself
few details and as much background to the character as i can. So he is a archer, der.. as i previously said he is a Korean male who performed at the Olympics and well Won a gold, that gold medal is hanging off the stabilizeron his bow (the hunk of metal stuck on the front of the bow)
he has a.. standard dress sense but it still had its own logic! well i was looking at asain stereotypes and a percific music artist l listen to who is also Korean has a similar dress sense and it appeared to fit for more of a casual look, there where other clothing relevant to the archer i was going to add like the chest guard and string release attachments, thee accessories also have there own reasoning aswell, the hat (your right of the belt line) this sty,e of hat appears to be worn by alot of the asain archers while in they where in the olympic games and also the sunglasses (your left of belt line) which was also warn by multiple archers.
on the bow there are 3 main attachments, these are iron sights which is the highest attachment, and 2 stabalizers, the long and short stabalizer, i marked the short stabilizer with the blue colour and grey for the long. i had also orriginally planned to add on a wind checker which was material wwatched to the red knob on the end of the long stabilizer which well as it says.. checks the wind by well.. flowing in the wind but i choice to put the medal instead becasue its a more.. 'creative' way to have the medal on him, alough if you think about it having gold in the post-apocalyptic world.. not the smartest
there is also a wedding ring but its hard to see because of the skin tone against the gold of the ring. there is a quiff on his lower back with 2 arrows in, the number of arrows isnt significant more just..lazy..
& the final aspect im going to talk about is his mutated arm, from my knowledge all of our characters were meant to fit into one world so i wanted mine to stand out more but still be 'safe' to fit into other peoples characters without it seeming crazy! so the mutated arm doesent have mad spikes or crazy super powers its just a astetic muatation with the colouring and texture of the skin, although it has a physical affect where the two middle fingers are connected. there is a light blue bracelett on the arm, this was completely just to clash against the colour of the red arm and have abit more detail. Finally there is a faint tattoo on his next, i didnt want to make this too visible because it seems off character but it looked good!
There were only a few images i used for my image reference but before i used any the first thing i created was a 'brief' of certain aspects for my character and here is that.
Okay BRIEF overview of the image below, well in the top right there is my image refrence, i own a bow and arrow (because im THAT cool B-] ) as you can see i coved up my body with a block colour just for decency reasons for this photo, but other then that there is no editing done to the photo (yes im THAT skinny & proud) you can see a korean face which was important because the ethnicity had a lot of importance in the piece ive done (although poor drawing doesnt make it look like it has!) and on the top left there is a list of all the attachments for archer and bow that would have been possible as you can see they are quite small so i will upload all of them singluarly the colour scheme in the bottom left is for the bow, and the right side of the screen is the anatomy i wanted to make my character marked with the circle although i found it ALOT harder then i antisipated.
now prepare for spam loads of images of the items :).
my god i liked blogger until i had to click on each photo and couldnt select more then one or make a slideshow -_- so my apologises for the poor astetics, hopefully i can tidy it up at a later date.
im not sure how YouTube knowledgeable whoever is currently reading this is but there is a man by the name of Freddie Wong or 'freddiew' and he was the image in my mind of body size, hair and facial structure of him, here is a image of thee one theee only!
FREEEDIEEEEEEE WOOOOOONG!
now after i had all the research done i had to start work but i enjoy working off my ipad for standard drawings more then tridictional media so thats where i started, on my ipad, and here is what i done before i felt i was going to move onto the final piece.
yes yes i know.. its meant to be asain but not look like a human simpson! i was tired i had been working for long my colours must have.. slipped. well anyway! i done it originally with no top because i had no top on for the image refrence that i used, it was only meant to be tone work but its apparent that it ended up me improving my skills more then how nessessary it was *golden star for honesty* (i hope these blogs dont have to be insanely formal ive been writing for hours and ive made so many spelling mistakes and a few silly little joeks..) well the base for colour bow angle and also well hair was desided from this, so when i say i have no sketchbook work, my iPad is my sketchbook.. i hope thats not such a bad thing.. hmm i'll ask. well here are the image refences i had but once again coving inappropriate exposiure (that makes it sound worse then what it is)
like my blue top :) well there is one thing which i didnt design before due to me forgetting which is the mutated arm so i went back and 'messed up' the only ipad art to try get a base design and here is what u done.
as you can see its slim compared the the arm in the final piece and also the colouring is different this is because it ended up being a 'do it as you go along' piece with the arm i had an image in my mind but that was only the two fingers being connected.
i beleive this concludes my holiday work, if there is any i have forgotten i will update this post entery, thankyou for putting up with the spam of text and imagary.
